At the Textile Tales roadshow at Strutt’s North Mill in Belper in September, we met Janet who worked at CVC Stevensons the specialist dyers in Ambergate during the 1990s. As well as being interviewed for the oral histories project, she brought employee newsletters from CVC Stevensons containing the latest company and employee news stories. Janet shared that she had taken part in the Learning for Life initiative that was co funded by the company and the Southern Derbyshire Chamber of Commerce, Training and Enterprise. Janet said that on this course she had learnt to swim as well as water colour painting. She still paints today and has kept the painting she produced during her training.
